Estrogen Body Cream is a fast-absorbing method of hormone replacement therapy. It's convenient to use and provides safe, effective symptom relief. As a topical treatment, it bypasses the liver and sends hormones directly through the skin, making it a great option for those with liver conditions.

Apply the HRT cream topically to clean, dry, and hair-free skin, avoiding the face and breasts. Dispense a pea-sized amount (typically 2 pumps) as directed by your Winona physician.

Massage the cream into your skin for 10-15 seconds until fully absorbed. If the cream beads up, you may have used more than your skin can absorb; consider applying to different areas such as the forearms, abdomen, backs of the knees, or inner thighs.

Wash your hands after application, and allow the cream to absorb for 30 minutes before swimming or bathing.

What kind of hormones can I get in my cream?

Winona provides cream with estrogen, progesterone, or a combination of estrogen + progesterone. If you need DHEA, you’ll be prescribed a capsule, as Winona does not offer DHEA in the form of a cream.

What does bi-est mean?

Bi-est, short for bi-estrogen or bi-estrogens, is a compounded hormone therapy that contains a combination of two types of estrogen hormones: estriol (E3) and estradiol (E2). The specific ratio of the two estrogens in bi-est can vary depending on individual needs and the doctor’s recommendations.

Do I need a prescription for estrogen cream?

Winona's HRT medications are prescription-only. In order to obtain a prescription, you must first complete an onboarding questionnaire and intake form, provide us with your health history, and have a consultation with a board-certified Winona physician through our secure platform.

What is the best place to apply estrogen cream?

Apply the HRT cream topically to clean, dry, and hair-free skin, avoiding the face and breasts. Winona recommends application to the inner thigh or forearm.

How long after applying the cream is it okay to shower or wash my hands?

It’s recommended to wait approximately 30 minutes before exposing the application site to water.

Will HRT help me manage menopausal weight gain?

Yes, HRT can help manage weight gain related to hormonal shifts during the menopause transition. Once hormone levels are optimal and the metabolic effects of declining hormone levels are reversed, weight loss is then possible. However, it's important to note that HRT is not a weight loss drug. And lifestyle factors, age, genetics, and diet and exercise habits will also play a role in how quickly hormonal weight gain in menopause can be addressed.

What if I need both estrogen and progesterone?

If you have a uterus, it’s important to take progesterone alongside estrogen to mitigate the risk of overgrowth of uterine cells, which can lead to cancer. Winona offers progesterone in cream and capsule form, with the most cost-effective option being our estrogen + progesterone cream.

Can I return my prescription?

Winona prescribes customized HRT medications according to each patient's unique set of menopause symptoms and level of severity. As such, once the medications are prepared and shipped from the pharmacy, they cannot be returned or dispensed to another patient.
