How to submit information to your HSA/FSA or insurance provider

Winona doesn't directly work with insurance companies, and we are not able to bill your insurance provider on your behalf. All Winona subscriptions require payment to be made in full at the time orders are processed.

Patients have the ability to self-pay for their prescriptions or utilize HSA/FSA funds as a form of payment during checkout.

All major credit cards, as well as Apple Pay, are accepted as forms of payment.

Winona is happy to provide receipts to patients if they wish to submit them on their own to their insurance companies for possible reimbursement.

We recommend checking with your insurance company about your benefits package prior to onboarding to see if reimbursement is possible.

Some private or employer-designated insurance providers may reimburse you for HRT, but this depends on the specific insurance plan and deductible.

HSA/FSA receipts, purchase receipts, and NDC forms are accessible to all patients through the Patient Portal.

WHAT is the difference between HSA and FSA accounts?

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) are two available savings options provided by employers that allow employees to put aside money, tax-free, for healthcare expenses.

However, there are key differences between the two.

FSAs are a "use it or lose it" type of plan, and funds left unused in the account by the expiration date - typically at the end of every year - are forfeited.

On the other hand, an HSA plan does allow you to roll over any accumulated pre-tax dollars each year so that you may continue to pay for health-related expenses in the future as needed. They do not expire.

What is the NDC form?

The National Drug Code (NDC) is an identification system comprised of unique 10- or 11-digit numbers designed to identify manufactured pharmaceuticals. However, it does not pertain to certain chemicals, compounded items, or inactive ingredients. Therefore, not every ingredient used in HRT will have an NDC#.

HOW do I locate my receipts or NDC form?

  • Once logged into the Patient Portal, click on "Insurance Documents" under your name in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

  • Download the HSA receipt, FSA receipt, and/or NDC forms, which can be submitted to the HSA/FSA administrator or insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Please be aware that Winona is not able to provide any additional documentation or information requested by HSA/FSA administrators and/or insurance companies beyond what is included in the specialized documents.
