The Time Frame for Symptom Relief

The menopause transition can be one of the most challenging life stages a woman will experience, especially if she is dealing with debilitating symptoms every day.

Unfortunately, there's no hard and fast rule to predict how or when a woman will respond to HRT, especially with regard to specific symptoms.

Hot flashes, mood swings, insomnia, and joint pain are some of the symptoms that tend to resolve fairly early in treatment, usually within the first few weeks. With a product like vaginal estrogen cream, relief can be immediate for sore, dry, and irritated vaginal tissue.

As with all medications, there's no 100% guarantee that HRT will work for you. However, approximately 80% of Winona patients report complete relief from their symptoms within three months.

What if it doesn't feel like my treatment plan is working?

The menopause transition can start as early as your 30s and may last for as long as 20 years! It's not a quick journey.

Sometimes, the path to finding relief may not be quick either. We know this is frustrating!

However, one of the benefits of using our personalized, bioidentical HRT is that your treatment plan can be adjusted as your symptoms resolve or intensify.

HRT works best if taken consistently over a period of time, so we encourage women to give their body about 10 weeks to adjust to their chosen treatment plan.

Your Winona doctor will ask you to check in and complete a follow-up at that time.

If you are still not seeing any progress or not finding relief, your Winona doctor will be happy to discuss a change in your treatment plan! We are here to support you!
