How is this different from creams I can get without a prescription?

While there are many over-the-counter (OTC) hormone treatments and supplements available, there is not enough research on their safety or effectiveness to be recommended without reservation.

The reason these medications can be sold without a prescription is because they contain a fraction of the dose of hormones needed to be effective. In the case where the medications do contain real, active hormones, the dose is negligent. In some cases, they can contain harmful ingredients or hormone precursors that sound impressive but aren't actually active in the body. Additionally, dosages are pre-set and don't account for the unique needs of each woman.

Winona doctors are board-certified and specialize in the hormone replacement therapy and menopause care. They prescribe customized HRT medications to meet each woman's specific needs, symptoms, and health history.

Winona's prescription estrogen cream contains a 50:50 ratio of estradiol and estriol, two types of estrogens that naturally occur in the body. This formula is approximately ten times stronger and more effective than other OTC hormone products. Winona also offers customized doses of oral HRT and estrogen patches, as well as micronized, bioidentical progesterone and DHEA.
