As with all medications, the risk of side effects increases with age when starting HRT. For this reason, it's not recommended to start taking HRT for the first time at age 60 or beyond. Patient safety is paramount at Winona, so to err on the side of caution, we only prescribe treatment plans to women between the ages of 35 and 59.
If you started taking HRT before 60, stopped treatment, and now wish to resume treatment, we recommend reaching out to your private doctor. They may be able to help you continue your treatment plan in person.
If you do not have a provider, The Menopause Society can help you locate one in your area. Learn more here.
We also have some articles on our website that offer practical ways to address menopause symptoms without taking HRT. You can explore those articles here.
