Should I have my dose adjusted if I'm experiencing breast tenderness or discomfort?

Experiencing some tenderness, discomfort, or a feeling of heaviness in the breasts upon starting HRT - similar to the experience of PMS symptoms - is possible. Because breasts are sensitive to estrogen fluctuations, the discomfort can be a common response to the influx of hormones when first beginning treatment.

The discomfort is usually temporary and will go away as hormones become more balanced. Analgesics, warm compresses, or a more supportive bra are options for managing this symptom.

If the discomfort does not go away after 2 to 3 months, it's advisable to contact your Winona doctor to discuss whether adjustments to medication may be needed. The doctor is always available via messaging in the Patient Portal for any questions or concerns.
