The answer to this question depends on the woman, when she entered the menopause transition, and her physician’s recommendations. Some women may be able to use HRT for a short period to relieve symptoms, while some women may need long-term HRT for continued symptom relief and quality of life.

The prescribed dose and duration of HRT use should be determined on an individual basis, after discussing the risks and benefits with your Winona physician. No arbitrary limit should be set on duration of use.
