Secondary exposure to HRT can be a concern for many parents of children and pets, as unintended transfer of hormones over time can affect their growth, development, and behavior.
Although the risk of transference is small, it's wise to be observant of the following recommendations to avoid accidental exposure:
Store your HRT products securely away from children and pets.
When using a compounded cream, please allow at least 30 minutes for the cream to fully be absorbed into the skin.
If you cannot wait the recommended 30 minutes, please cover the area or wear a garment over the application site.
If a child or pet comes into contact with your HRT cream, please wash the area of contact with warm water and soap.
Try a different application site, such as behind the knees, thighs, or abdomen if pets or children have frequent contact to exposed areas.
Do not let pets lick the application site of your cream. If this cannot be avoided, we recommend changing your administration method to a patch or pills.
